History

Mountaineers like Hermann Buhl, Hias Rebitsch, Matthias Auckenthaler or Hans Frenademetz opened many of the classical routes here. Afterwards Simon Huber, Otti Wiedmann, Heinz Zak, Markus Plattner and other top climbers followed their trails.

The Hut was built in 1903 as a mountain shelter by the Akademischer Alpenklub Innsbruck and named after Tirol’s famous geologist and poet Adolf Pichler (1819 – 1900).
